Dr. Stephen Bauch grew up in Nassau Bay, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. He received his M.D. from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1998. He then completed his pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 2001. After working in the LeBonheur emergency room for 2 years, he joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 2003. Dr. Bauch is board certified in General Pediatrics. He has been honored to receive the Community Pediatric Teaching Award by the residents at LeBonheur on several occasions. He and his wife Ashley have 4 children and are kept very busy.

Dr. Mary Benton was born and raised in Memphis. She graduated with a B.S. from Rhodes College in 1991. She received her M.D. from the University of Tennessee and completed her pediatric residency at Louisiana State University in 1998. Dr. Benton is board certified in General Pediatrics. She has been a physician at the Memphis Children's Clinic since 1998.

Dr. Dorothy Butler graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis in 1961 and received her M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1965. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and then became an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of South Carolina Medical School from 1968-1970. She returned to Memphis to pursue post doctoral training in pediatric hematology and then joined the Memphis Children's Clinic in 1971, where she has been practicing ever since. Dr. Butler is board certified in General Pediatrics. She and her husband, Dr. Richard Butler, have three children and seven grandchildren.

Dr. Richard Mason Butler grew up in southern Utah and attended Southern Utah University and the University of Utah prior to graduating from the Tulane University School of Medicine in 1966. He served 2 years in the United States Air Force from 1968-1970 at Charleston AFB in Charleston, SC. Dr. Butler completed his pediatric residency training at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 1972 and served as Chief Resident of Pediatrics from 1971-1972. He joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 1972 and has been with the group for over 40 years. He is married to Dr. Dorothy Butler, and they have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

Dr. Jami Carver is a native of Mississippi. She graduated from Mississippi College in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She received her medical training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. In 2008, Jami and her husband moved to DeSoto County to complete her pediatric residency at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center. Jami served as chief resident at Le Bonheur from 2011-2012. She is now excited to be part of the Memphis Children's Clinic staff where she enjoys the one-on-one contact with patients and their families. Free time is spent teaching Zumba, running, watching sports with her husband, and caring for their daughter.

Dr. Anna-Maria DaCosta was born in New Jersey. She attended the University of Pennsylvania where she completed both a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's in special education. She attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and received her M.D. in 1984. Dr. DaCosta completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. She then continued her training with special needs children completing a fellowship in Developmental Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she worked for 18 years as a general pediatrician and a specialist in developmental pediatrics. Dr. DaCosta has a special interest in working with children with autism, attention-deficit-hyperactivity disorder, and deafness. She also enjoys working with children of international adoption. She has studied American Sign Language and is proficient in this language. Dr. DaCosta relocated to Memphis in 2012 and joined Memphis Children's Clinic. She is married to Dr. John Kim Choi, a pediatric hematopathologist at St. Jude's Hospital. They have three daughters, two dogs, and two cats. Dr. DaCosta enjoys being with her family, reading, and swimming. She and her daughters do volunteer work with abandoned animals.

Dr. Melissa Damico joined Memphis Children's Clinic in August of 2012. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. She completed her residency at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center and was the first recipient of the Russell W. Chesney Award for Excellence in Pediatric Residency. She is board certified in General Pediatrics. Dr. Damico enjoys spending time with her family in Mississippi and traveling to Oxford in the fall to cheer on the Ole Miss Rebels.

Dr. Anita Durham received her M.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1992. She then completed her pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 1995, after which she joined the Memphis Children's Clinic. Dr. Durham is board certified in General Pediatrics.

Dr. Terry Geshke graduated from Vanderbilt University and received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency training at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center and City of Memphis Hospitals. After working with Laurelwood Pediatric Group he joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 1988. Dr. Geshke is a Lieutenant with the General Medical Office, US Navy. He is board certified in General Pediatrics. He and his wife, Pat, have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. He is a member of First Evangelical Church and enjoys family activities, tennis, and Vanderbilt athletics.

Dr. Jerri Giger went to the University of Tennessee and graduated in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in zoology. She received her M.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed her pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Hospital in 1994. Dr. Giger is board certified in General Pediatrics. She has been married since 1987 and has one son.

Dr. Tim Gillespie joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 1988 after completing training and serving as Chief Pediatric Resident at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center. He has a B.S. degree from the University of Alabama and his M.D. from the University of Tennessee. He is board certified in General Pediatrics. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee, and he has been awarded the Community Pediatric Teaching Award by the residents at LeBonheur Children's Hospital on two occasions. He has been listed in the Best Doctors in America yearly since 1999. He has been married for thirty years to Anita, and they have two sons. He is active in his church and his hobbies include soccer and world history. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Memphis Children's Clinic.

Dr. Oluwaseun Heinkel grew up in St. Louis, MO and attended medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Lebonheur Children's Medical Center in 2006, after which she joined Memphis Children's Clinic. She is board certified in General Pediatrics. Dr. Heinkel and her husband have three children who keep them very busy. In her spare time she likes to play soccer and tennis.

Dr. Brad Jones received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed his pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 1996. He is board certified in General Pediatrics. His first introduction to Memphis Children's Clinic was as a patient when his family moved to Memphis from northeast Georgia. He has helped lead medical mission teams to Guatemala, Haiti, India and Brazil. He and his wife Nicole enjoy traveling, running long distance races and serving in the music ministry at their church where he is the pianist.

Dr. Scott Kloek is a lifelong Memphian. He graduated from Raleigh Egypt High School and Christian Brother's University. He received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee Medical School and joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 1995 after completing his pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center. He is board certified in General Pediatrics. Dr. Kloek is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at University of Tennessee and DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. He currently serves as the Chairman of Pediatrics at Methodist Germantown Hospital. After marrying the love of his life, he became the father of two boys (and also recently adopted a cat). He was an avid soccer player but now focuses on tennis and watching the Memphis Grizzlies to keep him busy. He attends Central Church in Collierville and teaches 4th grade Sunday School.

Dr. Mike Lacy grew up in Martin, TN and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1992 (Go Vols!). He enrolled at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and, during medical school, met his wife at the most romantic of places, The Med. Upon graduation from medical school, he entered into his pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 1996. After an additional year as Chief Resident, Dr. Lacy joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 2000. Dr. Lacy and his wife (the other Dr. Lacy) live in Memphis with their four sons and a rescued Labrador mutt. He enjoys many sports (Go Grizz!), both from the couch and on the court, and feels privileged to be able to meet and care for so many kids in the Memphis and North Mississippi area.

Dr. Joanne Levine earned her M.D. from New York Medical College and completed her pediatric residency at Thomas Jefferson University and duPont Hospital for Children. Dr. Levine has additional training in evaluating autism in children. She is board certified in General Pediatrics. She joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 2009. She is married and has 3 children.

Dr. Amanda Mefford was born and raised in Mayfield, Kentucky. She graduated from Georgetown College in Kentucky in 2001. Dr. Mefford received her M.D. from the University of Kentucky Medical School in 2005 and completed her pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 2008, after which she joined Memphis Children's Clinic. She is board certified in General Pediatrics. She is married to Drew Mefford (University of Kentucky Dental school 2000) and has two children, Wilson and Dorothy.

Dr. Faranak Motaghian received her M.D. from Shiraz University, Iran in 1980. She completed her pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 1988, after which she joined Memphis Children's Clinic. Dr. Motaghian is board certified in General Pediatrics. She is married to Dr. Fereidoon Parsioon, and they have one child. She enjoys reading, walking, and fishing.

Dr. Stacey Murray graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1990 with a B.A. in Biology. She received her M.D. from the University Of Mississippi Medical Center in 1994, where she received the Blair Boston Award for Excellence in Pediatrics. Dr. Murray began her pediatric residency at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women in Orlando, Florida and completed her pediatric training at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center. Dr. Murray is board certified in General Pediatrics. She joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 1997. She is married to Billy, and they have five children.

Dr. Jennifer O'Bryan graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1997 and received her M.D. from the University of Tennessee Memphis Health Science Center in 2002. She completed her pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 2005, after which she joined the Memphis Children's Clinic. Dr. O'Bryan is board certified in General Pediatrics. She and her husband, Richard (who is an architect at Fleming Associates Architects), have three children: Stephen, Maggie, and Ryan. When not practicing medicine, she likes reading, music, sports (go Vols!), and computers.

Dr. Harry Phillips first became affiliated with the practice (then known as the Whitehaven Children's Clinic) as a strapping three-year old receiving excellent care from the group's founders, Dr. Steve Turnbull and Dr. Gene Whitington. He spent his early years in El Paso, TX (which explains his love for Mexican food!). He returned to Memphis in his teens and after high school graduation, he attended Mississippi College, finishing in 1984 with a degree in Biology. Dr. Phillips received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed his pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center. Dr. Phillips is board certified in General Pediatrics. He is a past president of the Mid-South Pediatric Society. Dr. Phillips was voted the Best Pediatrician in Desoto County in 2012 (DeSoto Times Tribune). He is a board member of both the Mississippi College Medical/Dental Alumni Association and the NICS/Oasis (international school organization). He has been married to Robbie (Coleman) Phillips for almost thirty years and they have two daughters: Gracie Stevenson, who teaches second grade at DeSoto Central Primary School and is married to Tyler Stevenson, and Rebecca Phillips, an elementary education major at Mississippi College. They also have a thirteen year old spoiled toy poodle, Millie! Dr. Phillips loves photography, motorcycling, golf, travel (trips to schools in Kenya, China, South Korea, Thailand, and recently Kabul, Afghanistan!), and of course the Grizzlies! His motto in taking care of your children is: "Love kids, listen to moms!".

Dr. Robert Riikola graduated with a B.S. from the University of Tennessee in 1965. He received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center then completed his pediatric residency in 1972. He has been practicing with Memphis Children's Clinic ever since for over 40 years. He has held several executive positions within the LeBonheur Children's Medical Center as well as in the general pediatric community. Dr. Riikola has also been honorably recognized by his peers in the medical community on multiple occasions and is board certified in General Pediatrics. He and his wife, Patsy, have two children and four grandchildren. Dr. Riikola is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and has been awarded the Community Pediatric Teaching Award on two occasions.

Dr. Whitney Sanders is originally from the small town of Humboldt, TN. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before attending medical school at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She completed her pediatric residency training at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident from 2010-2011. Dr. Sanders is board certified in General Pediatrics and has been with Memphis Children's Clinic since 2011. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Sanders enjoys traveling, reading a good book, Memphis Tigers basketball, cooking, baking, trying new restaurants, and all things food-related. She is married to her husband, Dr. Stephen Pishko, who is a pediatric hospitalist at LeBonheur.

Dr. Cindy Sands graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Illinois and worked as a Biomedical Engineer until entering medical school at the University of Tennessee. She completed her pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center and joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 2004. Dr. Sands is board certified in General Pediatrics. She and her husband Steve have two children, Lilly and Weston.

Dr. Van Snider graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in 1958. He received his M.D. from the University of Arkansas Medical School and completed his pediatric residency with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1968 after serving in the United States Navy. He joined the Memphis Children's Clinic in 1969 and has been in practice here over 40 years. In that time, he studied at Harvard and Boston Children's Hospital while in post residency training and has held several University of Tennessee Health Science Center teaching appointments. Dr. Snider is board certified in General Pediatrics, is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and The American College of Sports Medicine. He also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Tennesssee Health Science Center. He and his wife have three children and several grandchildren. He is the immediate past Chief Medical Officer for the Memphis Children's Clinic.

Dr. Stephen Stancil graduated from the University of Memphis and received his M.D. from ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center and joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 2008. He is board certified in General Pediatrics. Dr. Stancil enjoys spending time travelling with his wife, Jessica, and their two children.

Dr. Meghan Sullivan was born and raised in Memphis. She attended Baylor University in Waco, TX for college where she earned a B.A. in Biology with a minor in religion. She then returned to Memphis for medical school at University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed her residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 2008. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and joined Memphis Children's Clinic in 2012. She has an interest in obesity and obesity related issues. Dr. Sullivan is married and has one son. In her spare time, she enjoys reading a good book, cooking, gardening, or spending time outside. She is also active in her church and is on the baking team there.

Dr. Jeffrey Thompson received his M.D. from Creighton University in 1999. He completed his pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in 2002 and then joined the Memphis Children's Clinic. He is board certified in General Pediatrics. He is married to Dr. Dawn Scott, another pediatrician, and they have two children.

Dr. Donnyel Thornton is a native Memphian. She received her undergraduate degree from the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH and her M.D. from the University of Tennessee in Memphis, TN. Dr. Thornton completed her pediatric internship through the University of Tennessee at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center. After completion of internship, she was called to active duty in the United States Navy. Dr. Thornton spent four years as a general medical officer stationed at Cherry Point and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She returned to Memphis after fulfilling her military obligations and completed her pediatric residency. She joined Memphis Children's Clinic in July 2012. Dr. Thornton is board certified in General Pediatrics.

Dr. Jacob Vargo received a B.S. from Auburn University and his M.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center and is board certified in General Pediatrics. He and his wife have known each other since elementary school and now have four beautiful children. Dr. Vargo is focused on developing the Patient Centered Medical Home for the patients and families of MCC. He spends the vast majority of his spare time with his family but also enjoys golf, cycling, auto racing, and snow skiing.

Dr. Peter Whitehead was born in Tupelo, Mississippi. After graduating from Millsaps College, he received his M.D. from the University of Mississippi and completed his pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center. Dr. Whitehead is board certified in General Pediatrics. He and his wife, Heather, have three children- Caleb, Avery, and Abbi. He enjoys sailing, fly fishing, gardening, and working at his tree farm. Dr. Whitehead practiced in Roanoke, VA for 13 years before joining Memphis Children's in 2004.
